Unspoken Bond
“Many nights my cat would sit at a distance and watch me painting in the ancient basement under the old house. For unknown reasons he approached this one, and grew quite fond of it. After awhile they had an inseparable bond which made it quite easy for me to capture this moment.”
Continuing on with my “monsters and their pets” series, I couldn’t omit a very special cat from my latest painting. The cat pictured with this abomination is based on my own cat “Sye” from many years ago. He was a chill little feline who kept me company for many years; identifiable by the single patch of white on his chest. So this painting is a bit of a homage to him, RIP.
I had a good time painting this one as well, though I do feel some pressure painting these live on Twitch. I often come back to certain sections I’m not happy with and paint over them which is one of the benefits of acrylics I suppose. I tried out some magenta backlighting on the cat (not sure the source of that light, but it just felt fitting). Also props to DaveyB on Twitch for providing some “interesting” hand modeling reference photos.
